Abstract

|
This study analyzes the meaning and essence of the experience of battered women in domestic violence shelter by psychodrama using Colaizzi`s phenomenological method. Data were gathered from 10 participants between July 1st and September 20th 2009. The result can be grouped into 5 theme clusters; `looking back to the life without future`, `struggling to escape from husband`, `willing to sacrifices for children`, `uneasy to determine divorce`, `awaking to the fact that I am the master of my life`, Therefore, the experience of psychodrama on domestic shelter residents was found that it provided the opportunity to look back over their lives and rediscover their own value. This article suggests that the study on psychodrama for victims of domestic violence is needed to apply for other various qualitative methods in future studies.
